Warner Bros. announced today that Superman Returns would be speeding into theaters on June 30, 2 days earlier than expected. The Man Of Steel’s early return is an attempt by Warner Bros. to capitalize on the long weekend.

They seem to be thinking primarily of the US 4th of July week, but it also works well for Canada, as July 1st is the Canadian holiday. Overall this strategy works well for movies, by releasing them on the Wednesday, they get the full advantage of the long weekend and some early word of mouth.

The official website (www.supermanreturns.com) has a bunch of new pictures, wallpapers and other goodies to download.
