World AIDS Day

Support World AIDS Day

Today is World AIDS Day. With RENT having been released recently we are reminded that NORMAL people get AIDS in all sorts of ways. There have been many movies over the years which featured AIDS and depicted the characters as fairly normal - in that they represent the type of people we encounter every day. PHILADELPHIA was a prime example. KIDS, LOVE! VALOR! AND COMPASSION!, JEFFREY, ANGELS IN AMERICA, LEAVING METROPOLIS and many others are other movies that do a good job of portraying AIDS in everyday society. There’s dozens of others, and your opinion of these movies may differ.

Remember, today is about remembering that we are still struggling to combat this disease. Not only in curing it, but in stemming it’s spread.

Rambo 4

Rambo: First Blood
The other day I mentioned that Sylvester Stallone was working on Rocky VI and today I learned that he’s also working on the next installment of the Rambo movies. This will be the 4th installment following the exploits of the unstable Vietnam vet John Rambo. Stallone’s getting pretty long in the tooth for this kind of thing, so I don’t know how they’ll pull it off. Son of Rambo?

Pat Morita Dies at 73

Whether you remember him just as Mr. Miyagi in the 4 Karate Kid movies, from his time on Happy Days or any of the dozens of other movie and tv appearances over the years. This much loved actor will be missed.
